A MESSAGE FROM MARK GITENSTEIN (January 2018)

After four years, I'm stepping down as chair of Alianta's board, though I will remain active as a board member. The Board has elected Jim Rosapepe, a founding board member and one of my predecessors as US ambassador, as chair for the coming year. I want to share our plans for the coming year.

First, while we have not set the date, we look forward to our fifth annual awards Gala in Washington this fall.
Second, responding the interest of Romanian Americans and others, we are launching two major cultural affinity projects:
    -- enhancement and expansion of Romanian film festivals across the US;
    -- networking and technical assistance for Romanian language study for young people in the US.
If you'd like to get involved please register here or get in touch with Daniela Kammrath.
Third, to expand Alianta's role as a network of networks, we will expand on the Alianta website a calendar of all kinds of Romania-related events (cultural, professional, religious, academic, business, and more) in America. Start thinking about activities in your community which should be posted on the Alianta calendar.
Fourth, because Daniela will be focusing on our cultural affinity projects, we are recruiting a new executive director, who will focus on fundraising and organization building. If you know of good candidates, with previous Romanian ties or not, please let them and us know.
