Romania Day Festival in NY – May 18
May 17, 2019 - May 18, 2019
The 20th Edition of the Romania Day Festival will take place on Saturday, May 18th on Broadway in the Financial District. For the first time in its history the festival will recognize the Aromanian community, one of the most patriotic and devoted groups of Romanians whose roots trace back to Alexander the Great. As such, renown folk singer Stelian Arau will perform for an audience expected to reach over 25,000 people throughout the day.
In a unique, exciting fusion of Romanian and American classical music, New York’s native Luc Moutin Trio will perform Romanian Jazz as never before heard. Other guests include the Mirel Manea Orchestra, the Folkloric Ensemble Banatul, George Rotaru, Valeria Nautu, Ciprian Cocalia, Brandusa Covalciuc, Iuliana Roata and more.
The distinguished keynote speaker for the festival will be the Queens Borough President, Ms. Melinda Katz, a seasoned politician and candidate for the New York district attorney office in 2020. Queens has about 175,000 Romanian residents, making it the most concentrated neighborhood of Romanians in the US.
We look forward to seeing many new faces at will be the most culturally immersive celebration of Romanian tradition yet.
