Alianta congratulates Nadia Comaneci on the 50th anniversary of her historic perfect 10 at the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal. We also congratulate Ion Tiriac who celebrated the legendary gymnast's enduring legacy with a remarkable philanthropic initiative by funding and developing a state of the art gymnastics facility and dedicated to this great athlete.

At just 14 years old, Comăneci redefined the sport of gymnastics, becoming the first athlete in Olympic history to achieve a perfect 10. Over the course of those Games, she earned seven perfect scores and went on to secure five Olympic gold medals, three silvers, and one bronze throughout a remarkable career. Known for precision, composure, and grace, Comăneci's influence continues to shape gymnastics and inspire athletes worldwide.

Commemorating this milestone, Mr. Țiriac personally funded and delivered a state-of-the-art gymnastics facility designed to nurture the next generation of athletes. Completed in just eight months, the "Nadia Comăneci" Gymnastics Hall reflects both speed of execution and a deep commitment to youth development.

The modern complex spans 2,837 square meters, including 1,850 square meters dedicated to training space. Equipped with professional-grade apparatus from Eurotramp and Janssen-Fritsen, the same brands used in Olympic competition, the facility offers a world-class environment for young gymnasts. Its design incorporates safety foam pits, rhythmic gymnastics floors, locker rooms, and an integrated medical office, along with a spectator area that accommodates 50 to 60 parents. A life-sized bronze statue of Comăneci stands at the entrance, symbolizing both inspiration and achievement.

A defining feature of the initiative is accessibility. Backed by an €8 million investment from the Ion Țiriac Foundation, the facility provides free training for children up to the age of 12, ensuring that financial barriers do not limit opportunity. Comăneci herself contributed to the design process, emphasizing safety and the creation of a welcoming, non-intimidating environment for young beginners.

Mr. Tiriac's professional and philanthropic achievements were recognized by Alianta at its 2025 Gala in Washington DC with its Outstanding Achievement Award. Alianta's recognition of Mr. Țiriac underscores a broader legacy of philanthropy focused on youth development, sports infrastructure, and community impact. Through sustained private initiatives, including grassroots programs and modern training facilities, these efforts have expanded access to athletic development and helped cultivate future generations of talent.
